Long-term care can be broadly described as a wide range of health and social support services. These programmes are both community- and residential-based, serving residents with varying levels of independence.
The unique communal living conditions within resident settings give rise to an increased risk and exposure to respiratory and other infectious diseases due to shared spaces and staff working closely with multiple residents.
