As a national organization focused on the lung health of Canadians, the Lung Health Foundation is committed to protecting everyone against the impact of COVID-19, and ensuring that older adults don’t lose their independence in life by increasing vaccination of influenza and pneumococcal disease. Given the devastating impact that vaccine-preventable diseases have on older Canadians, we support the need for a whole life approach to immunization. We work to increase vaccine uptake through: public education initiatives that combat vaccine hesitancy; healthcare provider education that drives practice change; and advocacy work focused on ensuring equitable and affordable access to vaccines.
